Happy Friday, everyone! Hope you are all doing well. It was Open Evening for us at Hounsdown last night, which is always an enjoyable yet exhausting event! We had a mixture of KS4 rehearsals in practice rooms, music technology examples on screens and some instruments to have a play on. I'd be very interested to hear what you all do and happy to share things that work well for you - please do email me at dave.jones@hms.hants.gov.uk.
Please see below for news of a fantastic initiative led by Nick Duncombe.

Following on from our successful launch year, I am writing to ask your school to join our second year of: SINGING AMBASSADORS. This is to support singing in all settings by enabling young people to get involved in leading singing activities within your school.
Each school, in every setting, is asked to appoint up to 4 vocal ambassadors. They will come to 6 training afternoons which are held 1-3pm with myself, Vocal Lead for Hampshire Music Service, during the year. These half termly sessions will involve singing, learning how to teach a simple song and how to lead singing activities with their peers. They can then return to school equipped and ready to set up a singing area (KS1,2 and specials) or set up a student led vocal group (secondary) which they will build on throughout the year. All resources they will need shall be provided.
They also receive an enamel pin badge to show their involvement as an ambassador.
Vocal Ambassadors will get to perform regularly in ‘The Vocal Ambassadors Choir’. Our first performance is booked for Thursday 8th December working with CAMHS (Children and Adolescent Mental Health Service) for a special launch event. Other events will be confirmed nearer the time.
Schools will initially sign up their students, but parents will need to complete our official HMS membership form and be happy receive communications. To join our initiative and register your ambassadors, please contact me by Friday 30th September, Nick.duncombe@hants.gov.uk
If you have any questions or want to discuss how this will work in your setting, you can contact Hampshire Music Service office 023 8065 2037.
