Music Technology - friend or foe?

Hi everyone. I hope you are having a proper Friday feeling and looking forward to a week off. Yesterday evening was final production night for us at Hounsdown, so I'm feeling that familiar mixture of immense pride in the students, achievement, and absolute relief that it's all over!

Firstly, we are in the process of booking a venue for our upcoming network meetings, so please keep an eye on your emails for updates. I can reassure you that comfy seats and refreshments is on the agenda! Thank you for your interest so far and please do get your booking in as soon as possible.

One common issue that Music departments face is the

funding and utilising of effective music technology. It is also an area that is very difficult to deliver unified training on, given the variety of platforms available and the different experiences that teaching staff have with it.

To that end, I would be grateful if you could complete this audit (link below). This will allow me to see how I might be of use in terms of training/webinars/resources etc., but also can see how I can support individual schools/departments/teachers in their use of music technology.

I have always seen technology as a tool that can be used just as musically as an instrument, and gives all students a level playing field in developing their creativity. I am also aware that we have many experts in the county, and will be hoping to draw on your experience in the future.

Have a wonderful break everyone!

Dave
