Dear Colleagues,
Covid-19: Omicron Variant and New Advice
I hope everyone is keeping well and having a good end to the term. I must apologise for not sending out a Blog for a while now.
I am taking this opportunity to post a short message that I hope is helpful to you and your school. It follows on from the recent DfE communication to schools regarding reassessing their Covid risk assessments. This of course relates to the recent Omicron variant and the new advice.
This week, I have been receiving various emails from colleagues around the running of Christmas events and music provision. To support everyone with any conversations that may be arising in school please find below the very latest Music Mark 'Music Unlocked' guidance for music activity and provision in schools.
You will be able to see that music activities/provision can take place as normal (as per pre-March 2020) as there is no guidance from the DfE to state otherwise. The key message is that we ensure all essential mitigations are in place; ventilation, distancing, masks, not sharing blown instruments, hand hygiene and minimising the handling of materials/furniture.
Also, for our HMS events we are now asking all members of an audience to wear a mask throughout a performance.
I hope that this email helps with supporting your own programme of events and music provision. Please do get in touch if you have any questions, or you would like to talk through further.
